Winner of the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service Glovebox Guide Competition 2016
Across Greater Manchester, the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) provide a useful Glovebox
Guide to every new young driver on the day they pass their driving test. The
Guide ensures that young drivers are equipped with all the information they
need to keep themselves and their passengers safe. It includes useful tips on
looking after your car, motorway driving, the law, and having the confidence to
To encourage young drivers to read the guide, GMFRS run a
competition every year on their website where young drivers can enter by answering
questions on the information provided in the guide.
Last week the winner was presented with an I Pad
Winner of our Glovebox Guide Competition
Eleanor Maden, age 18 from Hyde
Eleanor, a law student studying at Sheffield Hallam
University was thrilled to receive the I Pad as an early Christmas present. She
told Lesley Allen, GMFRS Other Emergencies Co-ordinator.
“Thank you so much for selecting me as competition winner. I
passed my test back in April this year, and still have the Glovebox Guide in my
mums car. The information was really useful and well laid out, and the accident
checklist is particularly useful.”
The competition will run again during 2017, when GMFRS estimate
the Glovebox Guide will reach a further 25,000 young drivers. GMFRS send thanks to the
Greater Manchester Casualty Reduction Partnership for their continued support
and funding for this project.
