Christmas Drink Drive

Santa in Drink Drive Scandal chaos expected Santa loses his Job!!Billboard

Fancy a quick one? Ask yourself these questions?

What do you consider to be safe amount of alcohol to drive on?
How much alcohol do you think one unit is?
If you have had a drink how long should you leave it before you get in your car?
Do you know the answers?

DRIVESAFE are highlighting the problems surrounding drink driving. They have sponsored the Drivetime show on Century FM and have a series of adverts running with Century. There are billboards surrounding the Trafford Centre. Key 103's street team is also helping spread the message.

The aim of the campaign is to inform the public of Greater Manchester that-

  • Drinking and Driving can ruin your life. It can cost you your job, home, relationship, car
  • Increased insurance costs
  • There is no fail safe guide to ensure that you stay under the legal alcohol limit or how much you can drink and still drive safely. It can depend on how much you've eaten, your size, and your tolerance.
That measures have changed; the strength of drinks now differ greatly, so it's actually hard to judge how much you've had.
  • It takes a long time for the body to break down alcohol. Even if you have a drink at lunchtime and drive after work, it could still be enough to put you over the limit.
  • It's not just the fine and ban you have to worry about. Could you live with consequences of your actions if you killed someone?
  • Dispelling the myths that a shower, a cup of strong coffee or other ways of sobering up do not work. It takes time.

Over the last year 494 people were injured in Greater Manchester where a least one driver failed the breath test.

This campaign is being backed by rigorous police enforcement.

We are not trying to spoil Christmas but remind drivers that the only sure way to remain safe is have ‘ None for the Road'. Where drivers fail to take the advice they can expect GMP enforcing the law at all times of the day and night.

This campaign ran as a bill board and radio initiative throughout December. The graphics were shown on 5 bill boards around the Trafford Centre – reaching an estimated audience of 5 million.
